I feel that people are drawn to images that have content that they find informative or attracted to on a personal level. There are also themes that can be applied to images, no matter what you're shooting, that can change the viewer's perception and invoking aesthetic, emotional or curiosity-based connections. The big four categories of attention grabbers are color, repetition, visual texture and my personal favorite prescription of depth.
When out shooting keep your eyes and mind open to eye catching visual themes. What is it about certain images that catch your attention? What makes you stop when you're scrolling through Instagram and hit the like button? Take note of these images and seek image opportunities that emphasize them, and if you do this, you are likely to take those photos that connect with people wha have tastes and interests just like yours.
