Running will help you take better photos?

How does running or just taking a long stroll, in anyway going to help me take better photos? For starters, running is one of the simplest cardiovascular activities you can do, with benefits for nearly every part of your body, especially your brain. What happens when you're out running indirectly effects the way you look, feel and observe your surroundings.

If you go out with your camera as often as I do, you are pretty focused on the object at hand and that is most likely to get some really cool shots. If you have one objective and one shot to take, like a picture of a friends bike for eBay, you're all set, go for it. But if you want some creativity, inspiration or some new perspectives, go for a run. Even a jog or a long stroll will give your brain a jump start.

Running isn’t just good for your body — it can work wonders for your mental and emotional health, too. All of this works together and the results will show in your next photo shoot adventure. Even if the adventure is just around the block or at the local park, you will start to notice things in a different light.

Research also suggests that regular aerobic activity like running can help keep your mind sharp as you age. I'm a photographer not a health expert but from experience I can tell you that this will work 100%. I run often and I don't necessarily do it to get into shape, I do it to exercise by brain and to put everything into perspective.

Next time you have 10 or 15 minutes go for that walk or run. DON'T bring that camera and DON'T even think about work. Just go out, clear your head and visually take in as much as possible. Wait till the sun is about to set or early morning, look around, take your time, go down streets or trails you've been down before but never gave them much attention.

Things will change, your mind will start to change the way you see things and you're great photos you are taking already will transform into amazing photos.

I feel like this is just the tip of the iceberg of how I feel about being outdoors and how much your physical health has an impact on photography. As alway you need to find a good balance. Send me some of your current pics and comment if you want to read more article on this topic. If there is something you would like for me to go into detail about let me know and I'll see you out there!
