Software is to digital photography as the dark room is to film. Most photographers who still use film consider the darkroom the place where the artistic value of an image is either maximized or destroyed. I on the other hand consider the use of software an essential intermediate step between the taking of a picture and its final output. Most of my images have minor adjustments to tweak the final output. I believe strongly in keeping the original photo as close to that moment in time as it was captured, as if I were using film. I would like to hold on to photography as an art as much as possible. Software and digital photography is a love hate relationship with me. There is this fine line as to how far one can take and tweak a photo and still call it "the original", you got to pass that line but get back before anyone notices, thats the secret. I'll talk more about digital software in an upcoming blog.
